Environmental Instruction: Third Grade
The Common Good Lesson exemplifies the role of stewardship in our community. The 3rd Grade Team Teachers and our KP Green Team designed this lesson around environmental stewardship to teach how to care for things greater than ourselves.
Students investigated threats to the forest by taking action to remove non-native plants. Students investigated where trash occurs on the schoolyard and removed the trash from the watershed. Students learned how to care for the outdoor classroom by spreading mulch, replacing new tree rounds, and staining the picnic tables. Some students spent time cleaning the bird feeder stations and pulling weeds from the pollinator gardens.
